Government Shutdown?

If Congress is unable to reach an accord on Friday, the government will close at midnight, Saturday April 9.  In case of a government shutdown, only “essential” employees will be allowed to work. Several immigration benefits granting and related agencies could be affected as a result of the same.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services will most likely remain operational since the agency is funded by fees.  E-Verify and local USCIS offices, however, could be affected.

Customs and Border Patrol will remain operational as their personnel are considered "essential" for national security.

Executive Office for Immigration Review may remain operational but on a limited basis and the shutdown is likely to create delays.

Department of State will most likely continue to issue diplomatic and visas in emergency situations on a case by cases basis.

Department of Labor may be affected. Even if the iCert and PERM programs remain functional, a shutdown is likely to create backlogs.

We will provide you more information as the same becomes available.
